I. Intermodal Service

YANTIAN is connected to the national trunk railway network via the Pingyan Railway. Through inland ports, it extends its port functions across the Guangdong Province (Guangzhou, Dongguan, Jiangmen, Foshan, Shaoguan, Qingyuan and Heyuan) and to inland areas (Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Chongqing), offering customers with integrated intermodal logistics solutions from the inland to Yantian Port.

At present, YANTIAN has launched 27 intermodal services in China, covering provinces like Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou, with a total transportation capacity of up to 10,000 TEU per week.

II. Significance of Intermodal Service

Pingyan Railway is the only dedicated intermodal service in Shenzhen Port that seamlessly connects the port area with the national railway network, providing customers with stable, efficient and low-carbon rail transport services. Customers can not only enjoy convenient container pickup and grounding services at the depots of inland ports, but also fast, safe and low-carbon logistics services, benefiting both economic growth and green development.

In 2021, Pingyan Railway achieved a total throughput of 210,000 TEU, reducing carbon emissions by 2205 tons.

III. Outlook of Intermodal Service 

Looking ahead, YANTIAN will continue to work together with its stakeholders to boost the development of intermodal service network. By leveraging the role of Shenzhen as a port-based national logistics hub, we will strive to better serve the development of international trade in the Greater Bay Area, make greater contributions to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and ensure the smooth operations of the supply chain and the industrial chain.
