On March 10, YANTIAN, Shenzhen Pingyan Multimodal Company Limited (PML), together with the Economic Development Office of Changping Town, and the China Railway Guangzhou Group, held a promotion event for the Changping-Yantian inter-city train service in Changping Town. The event allowed local import and export enterprises to experience and be abreast about this environmentally-friendly and cost-effective logistics service, driving the high-quality development of international trade in Changping and the surrounding areas.
01 Changping, a thriving manufacturing and logistics town
Changping, known as the "No. 1 town along the Beijing-Kowloon Railway", enjoys convenient and busy transportation networks consisting of railways, high-speed railways, and expressways. Changping is also a thriving manufacturing and logistics town in Dongguan, with more than 570 enterprises engaged in export business. Products exported through YANTIAN mainly include textiles, household appliances, and furniture, which are mainly sold to Europe and the United States.
02 YANTIAN, a preferred port for international trade in South China
As a hub port in the Greater Bay Area and the largest container terminal globally run by a single operator, YANTIAN has over 100 services reaching destinations around the world on a weekly basis, and serves over one-third of the international trade generated in the Guangdong Province and a quarter of the international trade volume between China and the United States. We launched our sea-rail services back in 1991, one of the first ports in China to do so, and we consistently rank among the top ports in China in terms of intermodal throughput. Currently, PML has established 11 inland ports and opened 29 multimodal services, serving the Greater Bay Area, Southwest China, and Central China.
03 A port right on your doorstep
The rail distance from Changping to YANTIAN is only 66 km. Since its launch in 2009, the service has seen steady growth in cargo volumes. To date, it has transported nearly 460,000 TEU. This service has a fixed schedule to ensure that cargo can be quickly transferred to Yantian Port for loaded onto line-haul vessels. The train travels between the two locations at least once a day and can carry 50 40-foot containers each single journey, with transportation volume much larger than tractors.
In 2017, YANTIAN's g Inland Port in Changping was officially launched. This year, YANTIAN and Changping Town will continue to work with each other to build a port alliance, improve the function of the inter-city train service, and extend the terminal function of YANTIAN to various towns and regions in Dongguan, allowing more customers to enjoy the service of "a port on your doorstep". Through the port alliance, Changping's factories can rely on inter-city trains, smooth communication channels between the terminal and shipping companies, and the express gateway provided by the terminal for the railroad to connect seamlessly with Yantian Port, ensuring faster, safer, and greener solutions of cargo transportation.
