YANTIAN Welcomes 4 Mega-vessels in Just 11 Day Plus New Services under Port Alliance
A A A 缩小 加大 更大

The summer solstice is the time for everything to flourish, and YANTIAN is no exception. We have launched a serious of new initiatives to support the high-quality development of international trade, including opening the YANTIAN-Zhongshan Port Alliance in June, welcoming the maiden voyage of the world's 4 largest container vessels, each with a loading capacity of over 24,000 TEU, in just 11 days.

The New Service under YANTIAN-Zhongshan Port Alliance

On June 16, "Chang Yuan 003" departed from Zhongshan International Container Terminals for Yantian Port. Under the Port Alliance model, once the export inspection procedures are completed at Zhongshan Port Customs, the cargoes on board can be loaded directly onto an ocean-going vessel bound for France without having to go through clearance procedures again at Yantian Port, which greatly saves logistics costs.

Under the clearance model of port alliance, the whole process of cargo delivery only requires one declaration, one inspection, and one release. Factories and enterprises in Zhongshan only need to go through "one-stop" declaration and customs inspection, and the cargoes will be shipped directly to Shenzhen through feeders on the Pearl River, changing the traditional mode of transshipment between the two customs offices, reducing formalities, saving time, and greatly improving the port logistics efficiency. The average cargo storage period is shortened from 7 days to 2 days, which brings great convenience to international trade enterprises.

Welcoming the Maiden Voyage of the World's 4 Largest Container Vessels in Just 11 Days

As the preferred port-of-call for mega-vessels and the international shipping hub in the Greater Bay Area, YANTIAN has outstanding natural advantages. It has a unique 18-metre-deep and 475-metre-wide natural navigation channel in the Greater Bay Area that can allow 7/24 passage of 200,000-ton vessels in both directions with "zero time difference" and "zero tidal range". YANTIAN has 20 deep-water container berths, quay cranes with lifting height of 52 metres, the highest in South China, capable of providing efficient and reliable terminal services. Not only 100% of the world's largest container vessels visiting the Greater Bay Area call YANTIAN, but also many shipping lines choose YANTIAN as the last port of call for their Europe and US services, as well as the port of call for intra-Asia services. In addition, YANTIAN is also the preferred port for cross-border e-commerce in South China. Cargoes shipped from Yantian Port can be delivered to the destination ports in the shortest time, such as 13 days to the US West Coast, 22 days to Europe.

It is a sister ship to MSC IRINA, the then largest container vessel calling YANTIAN two months ago. MSC MICHEL CAPPELLINI only calls three ports in China, Shanghai, Ningbo and Yantian, with Port of Yantian being the last port of call.

02 ONE INNOVATION

ONE INNOVATION, with a maximum capacity of 24,136 TEU, is the first of the six new Megamax vessels in the ONE fleet to be deployed on the Asia-Europe FE3 service, and made its maiden voyage to YANTIAN on 12 June. The vessel is equipped with a "Bow Wind Cover" device at the bow, and for the first time in the world, containers can be loaded on the mooring deck inside the wind shield, while maximising loading efficiency and minimising wind resistance. Its main engine, bow, and stern have also been optimised for ONE's operations, and more than 2,000 reefer plugs have been installed to enhance its ability to handle refrigerated cargoes. The vessel is also equipped with a fixed shore power supply system to connect to YANTIAN's shore to ship power system, the largest one in China, contributing to the development of a world-class green port. YANTIAN is its only port of call in the Greater Bay Area.

03 OOCL PIRAEUS

OOCL PIRAEUS made its maiden voyage to YANTIAN on June 18. The vessel has a maximum capacity of 24,188 TEU, a length of 399.99 metres and a deck area of approximately 4 standard football pitches. It is currently one of the largest container vessels in the world, with the most spaces for containers, serving OOCL's Asia-Europe LL3 service. YANTIAN is its only port of call in China. There are a total of 29 Asia-Europe services calling at YANTIAN, with an average of up to 4 Asia-Europe services departing for Europe on a daily basis, making YANTIAN an ideal choice as the last port of call for Asia-Europe services.

With 399.99 metres in length, the vessel is 63 metres longer than the largest aircraft carriers in the world and has a maximum capacity of 24,116 TEU. So far this year, YANTIAN has 10 new services and welcomed the inaugural calls of 11 of the world's largest vessels, each with a loading capacity of over 24,000 TEU, nearly twice as many times as the second largest port in South China. In a recent release by the Container Branch of China Ports and Harbours Association, YANTIAN's annual throughput has been the highest in Chinese mainland terminals for 20 consecutive years, and international transshipment throughput has been the highest in Chinese mainland for five consecutive years, while our sea-rail container throughput is only less than that of Ningbo Port. YANTIAN is committed to providing premium and efficient services to customers to assure timely departure of the calling vessels and save logistics costs for cargo owners.

YANTIAN, as a preferred port of call for mega-vessels of the world, is expediting its efforts to establish a higher-level shipping hub, making its due contribution to the quality development of China's international trade.
