In November, YANTIAN was honored with two prestigious awards: Salute to 30 years - Respectable Container Terminal Enterprise - Green and Low-carbon Contribution Award.

The follow-up survey for China's freight service quality stands as a pivotal benchmark for evaluating the service excellence within shipping, logistics, and their affiliated industries. Established by the China Shipping Gazette in 1999, this initiative employs precision-targeted surveys, expert evaluations, and transparent media disclosures to meticulously scrutinise the service quality across the entire industry spectrum. This includes entities such as ship owners, ports and terminals, freight forwarders, shipping agents, pilotage services, financial insurance, and financing leasing. Individuals or organizations demonstrating exceptional performance are not only recommended but also publicly acknowledged, with the overarching goal of fostering continuous enhancements in the overall service quality and customer satisfaction throughout the industry.

As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of YANTIAN, these two prestigious awards not only validate YANTIAN’s progress in sustainable practices and customer satisfaction, but also commend the remarkable 30-year journey of our rapid growth and unwavering dedication.

Following the special edition published by Shenzhen Special Zone Daily titled A World-Class Port Starts from Scratch, China Shipping Gazette has released an article titled "A World-Class Port at Thirty: Surging as a Pioneer in the New Era" to send congratulations to YANTIAN.

Over the past 30 years, YANTIAN has evolved from the nurturing ground of a port into the stage of a global shipping giant. Looking ahead, we will continue to forge ahead to vitalise the economic and trade landscape.

This article elaborates on the 30-year development and achievements of YANTIAN from four perspectives: a preferred port-of-call for mega-vessels, main services of the port, emerging industries, and green and intelligent port initiatives. Reflecting on the emergence of this world-class port on a barren site, it acknowledges that YANTIAN has long become a cornerstone for the development of international trade.

Endowed with an inimitable natural deep-water port, YANTIAN has the unique channel of approximately 18-metre-deep and 475-metre-wide in the Greater Bay Area of China, allowing two-way navigation for the world's largest containerships in all-weather. Fully loaded mega-vessels can easily depart for anywhere in the world without waiting for the high tide. Equipped with efficient and reliable equipment and facilities, YANTIAN is capable of provide premium services to its customers. All these secure the stability of the industrial chain and supply chain in the Greater Bay Area. 100% of the world's largest container vessels visiting the Greater Bay Area call at YANTIAN. Furthermore, many shipping lines choose YANTIAN as the last port-of-call for their Europe and US services, as well as the ports-of-call for Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and intra-Asia services.

YANTIAN offers extensive, fast, and premium services as well as eco-friendly multimodal logistics solutions for our customers, strongly supporting the international trade development of China. Home to the busiest Europe and US shipping services, YANTIAN has access to most destination ports worldwide via its near-100 weekly services, for example with a daily average of four sailings to Europe and six to the US. As the last port-of-call in South China, YANTIAN ensures cargo reaches its destination ports as fast as possible – about 22 days to Europe and 13 days to the US West.

This year, YANTIAN has welcomed maiden voyages of 26 of the world's largest container vessels, each with a loading capacity of about 24,000 TEU, topping South China. We serve over 1/3 of the import and export container traffic of Guangdong province and 1/4 of that generated by the Sino-US trade. According to the data released by the Container Branch of China Ports and Harbours Association, YANTIAN's annual throughput has been in the first place among terminals in Chinese mainland for 20 consecutive years.

In addition, YANTIAN has been committed to developing its key services, including rail-sea intermodal transportation, imported cold chain logistics, and cross-border e-commerce. We are exploring new business models, tapping into the potential and opportunities within the e-commerce industry in the Yantian District. This effort aims to provide efficient and smooth marine gateway for numerous importers and exporters in South China.

The three-decade remarkable journey is marked by innovative breakthroughs, not only laying the groundwork for facilitating global economic and trade exchanges but also injecting new vitality into regional development, making YANTIAN an indispensable link that connects China with the rest of the world.

YANTIAN was born and flourished thanks to the successful Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation. To establish itself as a high-level shipping hub, YANTIAN will keep fully supporting Shenzhen to be a logistics centre with global influence and facilitating the cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong for a win-win port, shipping, modern logistics, industrial chain, and supply chain service system, enhancing the international competitiveness of the Greater Bay Area, and contributing to the high-quality development of the international trade of China.
