On October 20, China Central Television(CCTV)'s Morning News program highlighted YANTIAN's integral role in China's steadily growing international trade volumes. Fueling the robust growth in both volume and quality is an ever-expanding network of shipping services as well as an efficient, optimised customs clearance process.

In the first three quarters of this year, China's total import and export value reached CNY32.33 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. Of this, cross-border e-commerce contributed CNY1.88 trillion, marking an 11.5% rise. Shenzhen outpaced national and provincial growth rates, with total trade hitting CNY3.37 trillion, a 20.9% year-on-year increase. Exports rose by 19.7% to CNY2.14 trillion, while imports surged by 23.1% to CNY1.23 trillion—both reaching record highs.

CCTV’s exploration of YANTIAN revealed the key factors driving these impressive statistics.

01 In the first three quarters of this year, YANTIAN welcomed 16 new shipping services

As a key hub in the global supply chain, YANTIAN handles over one-third of Guangdong Province’s international trade and more than one-quarter of China’s exports to the US. This year, YANTIAN has welcomed 16 new services, primarily connecting to North America, South America, Australia, and the Mediterranean. This expanded network not only improves service density but also broadens destination coverage, allowing Chinese enterprises to efficiently tap into multiple overseas markets.

Currently, YANTIAN partners with shipping companies, government agencies, and port supervisory authorities to offer premium shipping services. These services feature dense routes, extensive port coverage, the fastest transit times to destination ports, and high operational and customs clearance efficiency. With nearly 100 weekly services connecting YANTIAN to destinations around the globe, we are actively supporting the high-quality development of China's international trade.

02 Introducing a dedicated service for cross-border e-commerce to meet rising shipping demands

To address the surging demand for cross-border e-commerce shipments, YANTIAN has recently introduced a new dedicated express service specifically designed for cross-border e-commerce customers. This new service connects YANTIAN to Los Angeles, North America, and reduces customers' preparation time to just 3-4 days. Currently, YANTIAN has a total of 11 express services for cross-border e-commerce, including 9 services to the US and 2 to Australia, providing cross-border e-commerce sellers with fast and reliable logistics services, significantly shortening transportation times and boosting their international competitiveness.

According to preliminary calculation from the General Administration of Customs, China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached CNY1.88 trillion in the first three quarters of this year, with exports contributing CNY1.48 trillion, reflecting a 15.2% growth. Mao Wenjun, Deputy General Manager of Shipping Consolidation and Marketing Director of COSCO Shipping Lines South China, commented in an interview, "The new service addresses the rapid expansion of cross-border e-commerce from the Greater Bay Area to North America, with some customers increasing their containers from 30-50 to 50-80 every week."

03 Multimodal transportation drives green, stable, and efficient logistics

Since the beginning of this year, YANTIAN has enhanced its network by adding 6 new port alliances in the Greater Bay Area (Xinhui, Nanhai, Beijiao Phase II, Zhongshan Shenwan, Beijiao Phase I, Huangpu Cangma) and 4 inland ports for rail-sea services (Guanyao, Huaihua, Chongqing, Shaoyang). In August, we successfully launched the Chongqing-Shenzhen-Hong Kong scheduled service, which not only features stable and reliable departure times but also reduces the transportation time from Chongqing to YANTIAN from 5 days to just 2 days. Currently, YANTIAN has 17 inland ports, 32 rail-sea services, 14 port alliances in the Greater Bay Area, and 17 feeder services, providing green, stable, and efficient services that cover key economic regions from the Greater Bay Area, Central China, to Southwest China.

04 Efficient and convenient clearance environment and port alliances

Huang Wei, Deputy Director of the Ship Supervision Department at Dapeng Customs under Shenzhen Customs, said in the interview, "This year, the number of 'Greater Bay Area Port Alliance' services at YANTIAN have rapidly expanded to 14 in response to soaring demand. In the first three quarters of this year, 12,000 containers were cleared through YANTIAN using the port alliance model, a staggering 4.3 times higher than the same period last year."

Looking ahead, YANTIAN will continue to expand its service network and enhance connections within the global supply chain. By maintaining a customer-centric service philosophy, we seek to collaborate closely with partners to develop supply chain solutions tailored to customer needs. In this way, we can further support Shenzhen's ambition to become a logistics centre with global influence and promote the high-quality development of international trade in the Greater Bay Area and nationwide.
