Recently, YANTIAN hosted a remarkable international exchange event, spotlighting the story of Tania Zeng, a 58-year-old Chinese-Chilean athlete. Representing Chile’s table tennis team at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ms. Zeng's 38-year journey from China to Chile culminated in the realization of her Olympic dream. With this extraordinary achievement, she visited YANTIAN to share her inspiring story.

Ms. Zeng's family has long been engaged in trade and agency businesses between China and Chile, with YANTIAN serving as a critical link in their logistics network. As a prominent gateway showcasing China to the world, YANTIAN welcomed Ms. Zeng and other distinguished guests, presenting our achievements and strengths. YANTIAN's table tennis enthusiasts had the rare opportunity to play alongside Ms. Zeng, gaining valuable insights into her technique and demeanor. Ms. Zeng's Olympic journey acts as a bridge, connecting YANTIAN with distant Chile and infusing fresh vitality into the friendship and cultural exchanges between the two places.

YANTIAN had the honour of participating in the 9th Chile Week, delving into the market potential and growth prospects of Chilean products. Engaging in meaningful discussions with representatives from Chile's trade and agriculture bureaus, industry associations, exporters, local traders, and logistics providers, YANTIAN actively explored new opportunities for collaboration, laying the foundation for a new chapter of mutual benefit and shared success.

YANTIAN has a longstanding and robust partnership with the Chilean market. Last year, the 8th Chile Week commenced at YANTIAN, attracting key figures such as Chile's Minister of Agriculture, the Director General of ProChile (Chilean Trade Promotion), members of the Chilean Presidential Delegation, and enterprise representatives from both countries. Their visit to YANTIAN highlighted the port's vital role as one of China's major logistics hubs and a crucial gateway for global trade. Currently, YANTIAN operates 2 direct weekly shipping services to major Chilean ports and 5 weekly services to South America, providing reliable and efficient logistics solutions to support the thriving trade between the two countries.

Chile Week, a flagship initiative organized by ProChile under Chile's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been held annually in China since 2015. Over the years, it has become a pivotal platform for promoting economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Chile.

03 Unmatched strength: a global hub for cold chain imports into China

Preferred port of choice for cold chain imports in South China
YANTIAN has consistently advanced its cold chain import and export services, solidifying its position as a key hub for fresh cold chain cargoes importing to China from the Americas, Europe, Oceania, and Southeast Asia. It has become the preferred port for cold chain imports in South China. As one of the region's major gateways for frozen meat imports, YANTIAN handles 95% of Shenzhen's imported frozen meat. In addition, fresh fruits and vegetables have emerged as a core area of growth for the port in recent years.

YANTIAN is now equipped with over 5,000 reefer plugs in the container yard dedicated for cold chain products, and there are 2 temperature-controlled inspection facilities and 1 Customs-designated supervisory site to ensure fast inspection and release for reefer cargoes. There are 5 off-dock reefer warehouses with a total capacity of about 200,000 tons to provide one-stop and end-to-end fresh and frozen food services to the Greater Bay Area and even the whole country.

04 SZ-HK Connect: driving global connectivity

YANTIAN's SZ-HK Connect program optimises transshipment efficiency between the Greater Bay Area's two key port hubs—Shenzhen's YANTIAN and Hong Kong's Kwai Tsing Port. The international trade shipping services of the two ports are highly complementary:

Kwai Tsing Port primarily serves Asian and South American markets, boasting the largest number of Intra-Asia and South America services in South China, while YANTIAN focuses on Europe and the US, with 4 vessels heading for Europe and 6 vessels heading for the US every day.

A total of 6 daily feeder services operate between YANTIAN and Kwai Tsing Port. Cargoes arriving at YANTIAN are transported to Kwai Tsing Port within 6 to 8 hours, where they are seamlessly integrated with additional key services. So far this year, the volume of feeder containers between YANTIAN and Hong Kong has increased by approximately 30% year-on-year, repeatedly setting new historical records.

05 Strong support from the Customs ensuring smooth and efficient imports

YANTIAN partners with the Customs to ensure smooth and efficient imports. Through a series of facilitation measures taken by the Dapeng Customs, time-sensitive cargoes such as fresh fruits, plant bulbs, and hazardous materials can go through a streamlined, one-stop customs process. This allows for the rapid completion of inspections, sampling, and container pick-up on the same day as unloading.

Nearly 10,000 tons of cherries were imported via YANTIAN. Thanks to the seamless coordination among all parties, the unloading of these cherry was completed by the afternoon of the same day. Containers with pre-declarations had all their processes finalised and were promptly delivered to the market. For customers requesting for the immediate pick-up service, containers were available for collection within 10 minutes of unloading.

Looking ahead, YANTIAN remains committed to our role as a major port, supporting the nation's efforts to increase imports of premium products. By fostering robust collaboration across industries, YANTIAN seeks to transform China's vast domestic market into a global opportunity, driving high-quality development in international trade.
