From September 3 to 5, the 2025 Asia Fruit Logistica took place in Hong Kong with great success. YANTIAN made a strong presence at the event, joining global supply chain partners to explore collaboration and highlight efficient shipping solutions that are elevating the quality of fresh fruit and vegetable imports and exports.
As one of the world's leading platforms for fresh fruit and vegetable trade, this year's exhibition gathered over 760 companies from 43 countries and regions. The YANTIAN team engaged extensively with both new and long-term partners, sharing insights into the latest global market trends and presenting how YANTIAN ensures transportation of fresh food through its high-frequency, extensive, faster, high-efficiency shipping services. The YANTIAN booth also received distinguished visitors including Li Zhong, Secretary of the CPC Yantian District Committee, and Xiao Kai, Standing CPC Yantian District Committee Member and Director of the General Offices of both the CPC Yantian District Committee and the Yantian District Government, who offered on-site guidance.
YANTIAN designated as a national backbone cold chain logistics base, building an international cold chain hub
YANTIAN has been recently designated as the only national backbone cold chain logistics base in Shenzhen, marking a significant step forward in strengthening its international cold chain capabilities and positioning it as a global gateway hub.
Taking advantage of its proximity to the port, the YANTIAN cold chain base will drive deeper participation of enterprises in global cold chain production and trade, reinforce coordination across logistics, procurement, and distribution networks at home and abroad, and establish seamless cross-border corridors. It will serve the diverse cold chain needs of meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, wine, and other fresh cargoes, further elevating YANTIAN's role in international cold chain logistics.
Going forward, the National Development and Reform Commission will guide the high-quality development of these national backbone cold chain logistics bases. By expanding scale, integrated, and networked operations through a "point-to-plane" approach, the initiative aims to boost the value chain of cold chain products and support the continued upgrading of consumption across urban and rural areas.
South China's leading cold chain port with comprehensive service capabilities
YANTIAN has long been committed to developing its cold chain import and export business, establishing itself as a pivotal hub for fresh and frozen cargoes from North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia & New Zealand, and Southeast Asia into China. Today, it stands as the preferred port of cold chain in South China. Notably, 95% of Shenzhen's imported frozen meat passes through YANTIAN, while fresh fruit and vegetables have also become a major growth driver in recent years.
Currently, YANTIAN boasts over 4,500 reefer plugs within the port area, catering to the storage needs of both imported and exported reefer containers. There are 2 temperature-controlled inspection facilities, 2 Customs-designated supervisory site to ensure fast inspection and release for reefer cargoes, and 5 off-dock reefer warehouses with a total capacity of about 200,000 tons to provide one-stop and end-to-end fresh and frozen food services to the Greater Bay Area and even the whole country.
Customs backed for smooth imports with industry-leading efficiency
Working in close partnership with the Customs, YANTIAN ensures the smooth flow of time-sensitive imports. Thanks to facilitation measures rolled out by Dapeng Customs, cargoes such as fresh fruit, plant bulbs, and dangerous goods can complete all procedures in a streamlined, one-stop process—enabling inspection, sampling, and container pickup on the very same day of unloading.
Efficiency at YANTIAN is proven in practice. When a direct express vessel carrying nearly 10,000 tons of cherries berthed at the port, all cherry containers were discharged and cleared within the same afternoon. Containers with pre-declarations completed the entire process and reached the market the same day, while "direct pick-up" customers were able to collect their cargo just 10 minutes after unloading.
YANTIAN's rail-sea service network extends across central and western China
YANTIAN is the only port in Shenzhen with a direct rail access. To date, YANTIAN has built a network of 20 inland ports and 33 rail-sea services. Domestically, it connects seamlessly with the national railway system and major ports, extending coverage across the Greater Bay Area, Southwest, and Central China. Globally, over 100 weekly shipping services link YANTIAN with markets around the world.
Rail-sea services eliminate road congestion and uncertainty, offering year-round, 24/7 reliable service. Cargo arrives at the port on time, ensuring ample lead time for customs clearance and vessel loading—streamlining the entire export process from end to end.
Looking ahead, YANTIAN will continue to play its role as a world-class gateway, supporting China's expansion of high-quality imports and exports. Together with global partners, YANTIAN is committed to advancing practical cooperation, driving high-quality international trade development, and turning China's vast market into opportunities shared worldwide.
