Five-Star Recognition for Excellence in Multimodal Transport

YANTIAN's rail-sea services have recently earned top-tier industry recognition, standing out for exceptional customer experience, operational efficiency, and innovative service models. The company was awarded the 🏆"Five-Star Multimodal Transport Operator" by the China Container Industry Association, while the Liling–Yantian rail-sea service was named a 🏆"2025 Outstanding Multimodal Transport Service Case." YANTIAN is the only port enterprise in South China to receive this distinction and has also been officially admitted as a member of the Association.

The Liling–YANTIAN scheduled rail-sea service has delivered particularly strong results. Transit time has been reduced from 4–5 days at launch to just 16 hours, with seven weekly departures now operating on a regular basis. The service enables "same-day station-to-station delivery" and "next-day door-to-door delivery." Cost efficiencies have been achieved through measures such as pre-staged containers, "one container to the end," and the "CCA model." In the first quarter, laden container volumes rose by 40% year-on-year, while cargo flows from Hunan to YANTIAN have sustained double-digit growth for five consecutive years, reinforcing YANTIAN's role as a key gateway linking Hunan with the Greater Bay Area.

Earlier, the Ministry of Transport, the National Railway Administration, and China Railway jointly released the 2025 Exemplary Cases of Developing Container Rail-Sea Intermodal Brand Services. Among them, YANTIAN's Liling–YANTIAN rail–sea service was recognised as one of ten national exemplary cases—and notably, the only service from Guangdong Province to make the list.

The Multimodal Transport Operator Rating is the most authoritative evaluation framework in China's container transport sector and the only national standards dedicated to defining and assessing multimodal operators. A five-star rating represents the highest industry benchmark, signifying strong capabilities in end-to-end service delivery, cross-modal coordination, and intelligent management. The assessment spans key dimensions including operational scale, transport organization, network coverage, digitalisation, and safety systems.

As one of the world's largest single container terminals and a core shipping hub in the Greater Bay Area, YANTIAN has been a pioneer in developing rail-sea services in China. It continues to extend port functions inland through an "inland port + rail service + port alliance" model, effectively bringing integrated logistics solutions closer to customers.

To date, YANTIAN has launched 36 rail-sea services and developed a network of 31 inland ports, covering major cities across South China, Central-South China, Southwest China, and Central China. Rail-Sea service volumes have maintained positive growth for seven consecutive years, ranking among the top nationwide. In the first quarter of this year, laden container volumes increased by nearly 40% year-on-year, while volumes handled under the CCA single-document model surged more than sixfold.

On March 25, YANTIAN hosted the rail-sea service promotion event in Ganzhou. The event reviewed more than a decade of partnership with Ganzhou International Inland Port and explored new pathways to deepen collaboration in the 2026 APEC China Year.

The event brought together Luo Yongfeng, Party Secretary of Ganzhou International Inland Port, and Huang Yufang, Assistant General Manager; Xue Taotao, Vice President of Shenzhen Port Group; and Peng Zhihong, Logistics Director of YANTIAN, alongside over 200 representatives from transport and commerce authorities in Ganzhou and Shenzhen, railway operators, shipping companies, and foreign trade and logistics enterprises. Participants exchanged views on corridor development, service upgrades, and new ways for mutually beneficial cooperation.

The partnership between YANTIAN and Ganzhou International Inland Port is both long-standing and robust. Over the past decade, the two sides have worked in close coordination, witnessing the port's transformation from inception to scale and from pilot project to national benchmark:

  • October 2016: Strategic cooperation officially launched

  • March 2017: YANTIAN's Inland Port in Ganzhou inaugurated

  • April 2018: Ganzhou–YANTIAN scheduled rail-sea service commenced

  • April 2023: South China's first stable, large-scale cold chain rail service (YANTIAN–Ganzhou) launched, offering 12-hour direct transit with reliable, disruption-free capacity

Today, Ganzhou International Inland Port stands as a key gateway for Jiangxi's southbound opening-up and a national model for inland development. Strong performance in rail operations, hub development, and foreign trade services has underpinned high-quality regional economic growth. Guided by the idea of "complementary strengths and mutual benefit," YANTIAN and Ganzhou International Inland Port continue to deepen collaboration across rail-sea services, inland hub development, and cargo consolidation, supporting the efficient flow of both domestic and international trade.

With the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting set to take place in Shenzhen this year, the Greater Bay Area faces a significant strategic opportunity. For YANTIAN and Ganzhou International Inland Port, it also marks a pivotal moment to elevate cooperation and enhance corridor capacity. By further optimising rail services, upgrading service quality, and expanding service offerings, both sides aim to develop the "Ganzhou–YANTIAN" corridor into a major logistics gateway linking Jiangxi with the Greater Bay Area and the global market, accelerating Ganzhou's integration into global industrial and supply chains, and jointly shaping a new era of openness.

Qingyuan Inland Port Inaugurated, Bringing "Port Services to the Doorstep" for Northern Guangdong's Foreign Trade

On March 12, YANTIAN's 31st inland port—Qingyuan Inland Port—was officially inaugurated, extending the service reach of YANTIAN to Qingyuan and its surrounding areas. The port offers local import and export enterprises convenient and efficient "one-stop" port logistics services, helping to reduce end-to-end logistics costs while enhancing regional industrial competitiveness.

In recent years, Qingyuan's foreign trade has shown remarkable resilience. In 2025, total import and export value reached CNY64.33 billion, marking eleven consecutive years of growth since 2015. Private enterprises have continued to drive this momentum, while expansion into emerging markets such as ASEAN has accelerated. As enterprises diversify their global footprint, Qingyuan's foreign trade sector is demonstrating strong vitality and a clear trajectory toward high-quality development.

The establishment of the inland port in Qingyuan marks a significant step in deepening port collaboration and streamlining international trade channels. By extending port and customs functions inland and leveraging seamless rail connectivity and coordinated customs services, enterprises in Qingyuan can now access booking, customs declaration, inspection, and containerization services locally. This integrated model substantially lowers overall logistics costs and improves operational efficiency.

Qingyuan Inland Port operates six weekly rail services to YANTIAN, with a transit time of just 10 hours. This creates a cost-effective, efficient, and reliable logistics corridor, supporting the global reach of "Made in China."

Looking ahead, YANTIAN will further facilitate the efficient export of foreign trade cargoes, support Shenzhen's ambition to become a logistics centre with global influence, and strengthen coordinated openness with central and western regions. It will help integrate inland economies into global industrial and supply chains, inject fresh momentum into balanced regional development, and contribute to achieving China's dual carbon goals alongside high-quality foreign trade growth.
