YICT Welcomes First Call of the 14,100-TEU CSCL Star

Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) held a joint ceremony today to mark CSCL Star's first call at YICT. Yu Xinguo, Vice Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal Government, Chen Zhenchong, Deputy Director-General of Shenzhen Customs, Long Yuehua, Executive Deputy Chief of Yantian District, Huang Xinming, Secretary of the CPC CSCL Committee, and Hai Chi Yuet, Managing Director of YICT, were present at the event.
The 14,100-TEU CSCL Star is by far the largest vessel in the shipping line's fleet. It is also among one of the few super mega-vessels in the world that boast the largest shipping capacity and extensive cutting-edge equipment. The vessel is 366 metres long and 51 metres wide, with a maximum draft of 14.5 metres.
YICT is perfectly suited to receiving vessels of this size, having both a natural water depth alongside of 16.5 metres and modern terminal facilities. During the call, YICT deployed ten super post-Panamax quay cranes.
Put into commission on 16 January, the vessel is part of CSCL's European service, which calls at the following ports: Yangshan, Ningbo, Yantian, Felixstowe, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Hong Kong and Shanghai. The service calls at Yantian every Wednesday.
Yantian is the preferred port of call for mega-vessels in South China. To date, more than 30 major shipping lines operate over 100 weekly international services at Yantian.
