On 14 October 2009, YICT welcomed the commencement of a new EU service from the CKYH Alliance (consisting of COSCO, "K" Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin), the Mediterranean Service One (MD1). The new service deploys a total of eight 5000-plus TEU vessels, with the Yang Ming Great making the inaugural call. The MD1 loop follows a port rotation of Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Said, Ashdod, Malta, Naples, Genoa, Livorno, Fos-sur-mer, Singapore and Busan.
Besides, the CKYH carriers replaced two EU services, namely the AEH4 and HFEX services, with the new North Europe Express Service Three (NE3), while replacing the AES1 service with the new North Europe Express Service Two (NE2). Both of the two loops call at YICT.
