On 21 July 2009, YICT welcomed more than 200 representatives from shipping lines, cargo owners and shipping agents to its Customer Communication Conference. At the event, the attendees were brought up to date on YICT's terminal operations, berth construction projects, port traffic situation, intermodal service status, and customs initiatives. A Q&A session was also held to answer questions raised by the customers.
To date, a total of four new feeder services and one new container rail service have been launched at YICT this year to better serve customers' needs in Yantian's hinterland. Additionally, YICT launched new eGate operations to further simplify the customs declaration process for transit cargo.
Improvements to traffic infrastructure include the 1 May opening of the Yantian Port Interchange, which has augmented the road capacity around the port. The opening of a new gate in the second half of the year will complement this road improvement, giving YICT 23 in-gate lanes and 23 out-gate lanes.
