On 1 May 2009, the Yantian Port Interchange, the nexus of the ever-improving road network around Yantian Port, opened to traffic.
The stacked interchange is Shenzhen's largest, measuring 40 metres high and 11.38 kilometres long along its main line. Ramps leading to the Second Access Road to Yantian and Yanpai Highway are now open to traffic. The ramp that connects to Shenyan Road is still under construction.
The Yantian Port Interchange is also part of Shenzhen's express road network project. It will help divert container truck traffic away from normal vehicular traffic, substantially relieving traffic pressure around Yantian Port.
