On 1 March 2009, a brand-new rail service was launched at YICT, allowing export cargo from Changping in eastern Dongguan City, Guangdong to be transported to Yantian in only 100 minutes.
The Changping-Yantian Express Service is a joint effort of China Railway Container Transport, China Railway International Multimodal Transport and YICT. It runs five times a day, seven days a week, with fixed services and train timetables that guarantee on-time arrival and "door-to-door" logistics services. In addition, the service can carry twenty-five 40-foot containers each run, substantially meeting increased demand from customers during peak shipping seasons.
In recent years, YICT has met shippers' needs for enhanced safety, punctuality, eco-friendliness and carrying capacity in intermodal transport by extending its rail services to an increasing number of inland destinations. Besides serving Changping, trains from YICT travel to Guangzhou and Shaoguan in Guangdong Province as well as cities in Jiangxi, Hunan and Yunnan provinces.
