On 22 October 2008, YICT received two new dual-hoist, tandem-lift quay cranes equipped with the latest LED technology. The 10W crane lamps consume less than one-fourth of the electricity of fluorescent lamps and can last for up to 50,000 hours – 17 times longer than conventional fluorescent lamps.
The two 2,000-tonne cranes – key pieces in YICT's drive to create an ultra-modern and environmentally friendly port – will soon be put into operation at YICT's Expansion Project. They have an outreach of 65 metres, which allows them to reach across 23 containers and handle the world's largest container vessels. Moreover, the cranes are durable to the point where they can stand 70 metre-per-second winds.
