On the morning of 7 August 2008 at YICT's conference hall, 26 students and teachers from Shenzhen University and Dalian Maritime University gave reports on their summer internship at the terminal.
During their three weeks of work experience, these students were grouped in teams to cover the four departments taking part in the 2008 programme, namely port operations, engineering, environmental protection and IT information services. The group covering port operations, for instance, conducted research on gatehouse services, Customs inspection, vessel planning, yard planning and monitoring, and Easyport - the port community system of YICT. In addition, YICT arranged for the trainees to visit the nearby bonded warehouses and the automated logistic centre of Huawei Technologies.
Since the programme was launched last year, it has been warmly welcomed by the two universities, as it provides practical experience to students who will soon be joining China's workforce. YICT makes continuous efforts to promote the development of higher education in Chinese maritime studies by providing a practice platform to train future industry talent.
