On 2 June 2008, YICT launched its second Environmental Awareness Promotion Week to celebrate this year's World Environment Day.
In line with this year's World Environment Day slogan, "Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy", a contest featuring original works of art handmade from refuse was held, attracting wide participation from staff. At the contest’s end, two entries, "Blooming Lives" and "Charm of Lives", tied for first place. Made from waste paper, waste wooden boards, disused plastic foam materials, and used iron wires and screws, both pieces were meant to pay tribute to the Sichuan earthquake survivors for their strength of mind and resolve.
In addition, other activities were held during the week, including film showings, calls for articles, and an appraisal of suggestions for environmental improvement, all of which were aimed at promoting environmental awareness among staff.
