On 5 June 2008, YICT welcomed the maiden vessel call of the "Aruni Rickmers" which Evergreen deployed to its new Taiwan-China-Australia (TCA) Express service to replace its former North Asia-China-Australia (NCA) Express service. Offering the first direct connection between East Asia and Australia, the new TCA service will help address the need for additional capacity on East Asian trade routes.
A total of five vessels with a shipping capacity of 1,600-1,800 TEU will be deployed to the new service. The TCA service will call at YICT every Friday and will follow a port rotation of Kaohsiung, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Kaohsiung, taking 35 days to complete.
