On 14 April 2008, YICT welcomed the "Nedlloyd Asia", the first of five 4,500-TEU vessels that Maersk has deployed to its new Far East-Middle East 2 (FM2) service.
Through the FM2 service, Maersk aims to enhance its Far East-Middle East network while better meeting the demands of fast-growing trade between South China and the Middle East. The service calls at Yantian every Monday and then moves on to Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Jebel Ali, Dammam and Nansha.
