On 24 March 2007, Wan Hai Lines launched a new Asian service, the New Super 5 (NS5) Service, at Yantian. While Yantian is its only port of call in mainland China, the service covers a number of main ports in Japan and thus provides a convenient and efficient access for export cargo from South China to be shipped to Japan. The new service brings the total number of weekly services calling at YICT to 81.
Wan Hai Lines has deployed two container vessels to run the route. The NS5 Service calls at YICT every Friday, with a port rotation of Yantian, Hong Kong, Osaka, Kobe, Tokuyama, Moji, Hakata and Kaohsiung. As early as in 2001, Wan Hai launched its North American service, the China-Transpacific (CTP) Service, at Yantian.
