On 21 March 2007, YICT is pleased to announce that the third berth of its Expansion Project will commence trial operations soon after successfully passing all engineering and port administration inspections by the relevant governmental departments.
YICT's increase in capacity will be more than capable of handling expected rises in container volume to provide a smooth and uninterrupted level of service.
YICT's swift and efficient operating and Customs clearance systems in conjunction with an increase in capacity have enabled it to respond to the changing needs of its customers, many of which are currently readjusting their service coverage and bolstering their shipping capacity ahead of the peak shipping season. In so doing, YICT's weekly services have continued to grow substantively. Four new shipping services were launched in March alone to bring the total number of services calling at YICT to 79.
The first two berths of the Expansion Project came on-stream in September 2006. With this third berth, the Expansion Project has a quay length of 1,216 metres and a depth alongside of 16 metres. Comprised with the latest container-handling equipment it is more than capable of effectively servicing the largest vessels afloat.
