On 30 November 2006, YICT welcomed a new European service, the China-Adriatic (ADR) Service operated by Italia Marittima S.p.A., with the maiden vessel call of the "Thomas Mann". It brings the total number of weekly shipping services calling at Yantian to 77.
Seven 2,500-TEU to 3,600-TEU container vessels have been deployed to run the ADR service, which calls at YICT every Friday and includes a port rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Suez Canal, Alexandria, Dekheila, Taranto, Rijeka, Trieste and Koper.
With more new services calling at YICT, the port is able to provide shipping lines and cargo owners with more choices to ship cargo around the world.
