On 24 November 2006, YICT welcomed the commencement of a new Asia-Mediterranean Express (AME) service, jointly operated by Yang Ming and "K" Line. This improved service has amalgamated the best features of the previously offered Asia Mediterranean Shuttle Service (AMS) and Asia Mediterranean Shuttle Service Loop-2 (AMS2), to record a reduced transit time of just 17 days for goods shipped from Yantian, China to Genoa, Italy.

Seven 5,500-TEU container vessels have been deployed to the line-haul route, which includes a port rotation of Ningbo, Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian, Jeddah, Suez Canal, Port Said, Genoa, Livorno and Fos sur Mer.
