On 12 September 2006, YICT welcomed the maiden vessel call of the "Ever Gifted", one of nine container vessels deployed by Evergreen to its new European service, Far East - Mediterranean (FEM).
The FEM service is made-up of seven 2,800 TEU and two 5,600 TEU capacity vessels, which calls at YICT every Friday and includes a port rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Suez Canal, Taranto, Genoa, Fos sur Mer, Barcelona, and Valencia.
This new service at YICT provides shippers with yet another solution for the export of cargo from South China to Europe and the Mediterranean during the peak shipping season.
