On 31 July 2006, Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) took delivery of three new Super Post-Panamax Quay Cranes. These tandem lift dual-hoist cranes extend to 80 metres above the rail and have an outreach of 65 metres to span 23 rows of containers, to effectively service the world's largest cargo vessels.
In recognising that 80 per cent of all ocean-going cargo is currently consolidated in 40-foot containers; YICT made the decision to invest in these new cranes, which simultaneously handle two 40-foot boxes, to record an operational efficiency that is 20-30 per cent higher than traditional quay cranes.
In ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction are maintained YICT is firmly committed to the ongoing investment in state-of-the-art terminal equipment.
