On 24 May 2006, Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) took delivery of three Post Panamax Quay Cranes and three Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) to further enhance facilities at its Phase III site, constituting the latest in a series of investments which have doubled the number of quay cranes and RTGCs at the terminal since 2003.
YICT's significant investment in next generation operational equipment ensures the present and future needs of shipping lines and shippers are being proactively met, promoting a world-class level of service that is both timely and efficient. YICT regularly execute the effective service handling of some of the largest vessels afloat with hold capacities of 8,000-TEU plus, in April YICT handled twenty-seven such vessels.
YICT is confident that the new cranes will expedite operational capabilities to enhance the flow of container movement experienced during the peak cargo season.
