Since February 2006, Maersk has begun to adjust its American, European and Middle East services.
On 20 February, Maersk's new Central American service, called CAMMEX, made its inaugural call at Yantian with a rotation of Hong Kong, Yantian, Kaohsiung, Gwangyang, Ensenada (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Puerto Quetzal, Balboa, Lazaro Cardenas and Yokohama. In addition, the shipping line will launch a new South American service named ASICAR at Yantian on 5 March. Maersk will deploy eight vessels, each with a shipping capacity of 4,000 TEU. The ASICAR has a rotation of Hong Kong, Yantian, Shanghai, Gwangyang, Balboa, Manzanill, Cartagena, Kingston, Cartagena, Manzanillo, Yokohama and Kobe.
Maersk will, in succession, also adjust some of its other existing services. These include renaming the Asian service SMS as FM1 and the South African service SAF as SAF1, and ceasing two European services AE7 and AE8E.
