On 12 November 2005, Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) commenced its Silk Express service at YICT with the inaugural vessel, "MSC Alessia".
MSC has deployed eight mega vessels along this service to enhance its shipping capacity from the Far East to Europe. Four of the eight vessels are newly launched and have a hold ratio of 9,200 TEU. The other four vessels comprised of two 8,200 TEU and two 6,700 TEU vessels. With comprehensive port coverage and excellent transit times, MSC is committed to providing customers with a world class shipping service.
The new service berths at YICT every Friday and encompasses a port rotation of Singapore, Chiwan, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Velencia, Le Haver, Rotterdam and Felixstowe.
