On 25 July 2005 at Yantian, China Shipping launched a global service, AMAX which is the first ever global service to call on Yantian. The new service brings the total number of weekly shipping services calling at Yantian to 70, including 40 American services, 21 European services, five Asian services, one Australian service, one South African service and two shuttle services.
Starting at Ningbo, the new service covers 16 ports in 12 countries throughout Asia, the Mediterranean and North America, including Ningbo, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Yantian, Port Kelang, Port Said, Haifa, Naples, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Halifax, New York, Norfolk and Savannah. It takes about three months to complete a round trip. China Shipping has deployed 11 vessels in the AMAX service.
