The port declaration procedures at Yantian Port have been simplified in recent months to facilitate cargo flow at Yantian. Yantian Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (the Bureau), with the support of YICT, has implemented a series of measures that are aimed at meeting the on-going developments in terminal operations and increasing demands in Shenzhen, which will benefit exporters and importers especially during peak seasons. These new measures include a centralised and intensive day inspection, and an open day for representatives of enterprises to communicate with the Bureau’s Director.
The port currently has more than 90 inspection areas and this enables more than 90 containers to be inspected simultaneously, three times more than what was previously handled. As a result of the extension, inspection time for containers will be greatly reduced.
The Bureau has also extended its service to 365 days a year and implemented an open day on Tuesday for representatives of enterprises to meet with the Bureau’s Director and discuss possible declaration problems. As part of the new measures, the enquiry counter at the Bureau’s declaration hall has also been expanded to allow more inspection brokers to make on-site inquiries, further improving the overall efficiency. In addition, the Bureau has been working very closely with YICT to promote a regular inspection system to speed up the process of inspection, disinfection and distribution of containers and cargoes that originated from epidemic regions. These new measures ensure that demands will be met even if terminal throughput continues to grow.
The Shenzhen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has always placed great importance on reforms that are beneficial to importers and exporters. Mr. Liu Shengli, Director of the Shenzhen Bureau, has visited YICT on numerous occasions to discuss about the implementation of these new measures. He emphasized that Shenzhen Bureau will review all available measures to improve the cargo declaration procedures at Yantian Port and save time and costs for enterprises.
