On 27 May 2004, a new Europe service named Lion Service，operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), made an inaugural call at Yantian. Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) now boasts a total of 54 weekly shipping services.
The service calls at Yantian every Thursday with the rotation of Busan, Shanghai, Xiamen, Yantian, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Antwerp, St Petersburg, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Jeddah, Singapore, Chiwan and Busan. MSC has deployed six 3,000-6,700 TEU vessels on the service.
