On 31 July 2003, the Traffic Police Brigade (TPB), the Supervisory Administration Bureau of Safety Production (SABSP), YICT and major trucking companies signed an agreement to jointly promote a "Traffic Safety Community". This will reduce traffic accidents and help maintain smooth traffic flow during the peak season of terminal operations and the summer tourist boom.
With the rapid growth of Yantian Port and the tourism industry in the eastern Shenzhen, the Yantian District Government and the public have paid a great deal of attention to local traffic. Yantian Port Group, YICT and TPB have made efforts to improve the flow of traffic.
Since the beginning of the year, YICT has implemented various initiatives. The company has renovated the terminal exit facilities, increased operation equipment and upgraded IT management to improve terminal handling capacity. In addition, YICT has co-funded the construction of the Mingzhu Interchange; opened a temporary road for container trucks entering the terminal; and offered traffic facilities and directions to public roads to smooth the traffic flow. In June 2003, YICT supported TPB to establish the first Traffic Assistant Brigade in the Special Economic Zone, which mounts 24-hour patrols around Yantian Port.
With this latest agreement, further co-operation between the relevant parties will not only help upgrade traffic facilities, but also promote traffic management and public safety awareness.
Upon the completion of the Mingzhu Interchange, Yanpai Highway and Yanba Highway, a comprehensive traffic network will be formed to separate container trucks from public traffic to ensure smooth traffic flow in the port area.
At the signing ceremony, there was a total of about 150 guests including Mr. Xiao Gengping, Vice Director of the Yantian District Government, leaders of SABSP and TPB, and representatives from YICT, Shenzhen Trucking Enterprise Association and various trucking companies.
