On 11 November 2002, Dapeng Customs celebrated its tenth anniversary. At a ceremony to mark the event, Mr. Gong Zheng, Director of Shenzhen Customs, delivered a speech in which he recognised Dapeng Customs' outstanding achievement in undertaking Customs reform and the significant role the bureau has played in the development of Yantian Port. Finally, Mr. Gong anticipated that in future, Dapeng Customs would undertake measures to support nation-wide Customs reform.
Dapeng Customs was established in 1992 on approval from the State Council. It is responsible for ocean-shipping import and export cargo, transit cargo, Customs-supervised warehouses, bonded warehouses and cargo movement in the bonded zone. In line with Customs policy, Dapeng Customs has simplified declaration processes, and strengthened logistics supervision and co-operation with YICT to accelerate the speed of cargo declarations. It has carried out further reforms since China entered the WTO. In a related move, Dapeng Customs will introduce cutting-edge technology to support YICT in its goal of becoming an international shipping hub, thus contributing to the economic and social development of Yantian and surrounding districts.
Mr. Dai Beifang, Party Secretary of Yantian District, Mr. Kenneth Tse, General Manager of YICT, and other officials and guests attended a calligraphy exhibition and evening party to celebrate the tenth anniversary. During the event, they reviewed the glorious progress of Dapeng Customs' development.
