On 25 October 2012, YICT and China Hewlett-Packard Company (CHP) jointly held a ceremony at YICT to announce the successful completion of the “Challenge 1,000” programme, which enabled YICT's terminal operating systems to record 1,000 days of unimpeded service. This beat the system’s previous record of 541 consecutive days of operation without experiencing any unplanned system downtime.

This unparalleled achievement is the first of its kind within the global container port industry and is one of the two successful “Challenge 1,000” cases in China, under the concerted efforts of YICT and CHP.

Over the past decade, YICT has evolved into the preferred port of call for mega-vessels and one of the largest single terminals in the world. Without question, the high reliability, stability and efficiency of the terminal’s IT applications are playing a crucial role in the company’s ongoing development. The programme has effectively supported the development of YICT’s terminal operations, enabling it to provide non-stop services 365 days a year to its global customers.
