On 16 May 2013, the CMA CGM Jules Verne, one of the world’s largest container vessels, made its maiden call at YICT. Measuring 396 metres long and 54 metres wide, the vessel has a carrying capacity of 16,020 TEU. During the visit, a total of 1,732 containers were handled.
Operating on CMA CGM’s Europe Service (FAL 1), the vessel follows a port rotation of Pusan, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Chiwan, Yantian, Port Kelang, Suez, Malta, Marseilles, Tanger, Southampton, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Malta, Suez, Khor Al Fakkan, Jebel Ali, Port Kelang and Ningbo.
The newbuilding is one of three 16,000-TEU-class vessels in CMA CGM’s fleet that have called at YICT, following sister ships the CMA CGM Marco Polo and the CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt.
