Since 24 June, the Yantian Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has been trailing an extension of working hours for the sterilisation of imported marble cargoes. Sterilisation can now be undertaken 24 hours a day.
When the inspection, quarantine and customs release procedures for a cargo have been completed, the marble can be sterilised in the 3K sterilisation lane installed at YICT. This is part of a Yantian Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau initiative to expedite inspection and quarantine procedures.
Ninety-five per cent of the marble imported via Yantian Port is from epidemic-prone areas such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Egypt and Iran. The 24-hour sterilisation practice has sped up clearance procedures and cut down clearance costs.
