On 25 July 2013, 40 delegates from the Guangdong and Hong Kong Feeder Association visited YICT. Patrick Wong, YICT’s General Manager-Railway and Logistics Services, hosted the visit and introduced the guests to the Watergate International Transshipment (WIT) service.
WIT, launched at the end of 2012, is a new international transshipment service provided by YICT. Export cargo is transported from the catchment areas to Hong Kong by feeder services, and is then shipped to YICT via the extensive feeder network between Hong Kong and Yantian. Once the cargo arrives at Yantian, it is transshipped to line-haul vessels for export. As a far more cost-effective and eco-friendly way of transportation, WIT has been well received among cargo owners.
Currently, YICT has four intra-Pearl River Delta feeder services and six international transshipment services in operation, able to provide quality services to cargo owners in the western Pearl River Delta area and eastern Guangdong.
