YICT Hosts its Customer Communication Session 2013

On 23 August 2013, YICT organised a Customer Communication Session for about 200 attendees, including cargo owners and representatives from shipping lines, 3PLs and warehousing enterprises. The attendees exchanged ideas on issues of concern with the YICT management team led by Managing Director, Patrick Lam.

Speaking at the session, Patrick revealed that YICT would further strengthen its role as a pivotal container port in southern China and sharpen its competitive edge in the era of mega-vessels. He was confident that YICT’s industry leading service and efficiency would be further proven in servicing mega-vessels.

Over the years YICT has continuously strengthened itself to meet the increasing demand for mega-vessel calls. YICT’s feeder network extends terminal services to cargo catchment areas in the Pearl River Delta. To reach inland markets, YICT has launched container rail services that cover areas such as Chongqing, Kunming, Hunan and Jiangxi. Adjacent to Yantian Port is the largest off-dock warehousing facility in southern China, covering an area of 1,260,000 m2. An increasing number of shippers and 3PLs now choose Yantian for integrated logistics services.

YICT has worked closely with port authorities in implementing reforms for smooth customs clearance. The Yantian Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recently streamlined the inspection and quarantine procedures for cargoes such as marble, wood and planks, expediting cargo flows. Dapeng Customs has implemented customs clearance procedures that ensure a paperless rate of over 60% for export documents. In addition, an extension of working hours for inspection and an increase in the customs workforce have helped to shorten inspection time.

During the Q&A section, the YICT management team exchanged ideas with attendees on business opportunities in exports and intermodal transportation.
