In July 2013, YICT held its eighth annual three-week summer internship for students from Dalian Maritime University and Shenzhen University. This year’s programme ran from 22 July to 9 August, with 24 students taking part. The students studied terminal operations, researched enterprise management and were introduced to YICT’s corporate culture.
On 5 August, Patrick Lam, Managing Director of YICT, held a discussion session with the students. He recalled experiences from his school days and throughout his career, providing insights on working in the industry. He also advised the students on how to improve their learning abilities and forge successful careers.
At the end of the programme, the students gave presentations on their projects to a panel of judges. The team with the topic “Improving the ETD (Estimated Time of Departure) Setting Accuracy” won first prize, with their concrete data analysis and persuasive presentation.
