To support future talent in the port and logistics industry, YICT provides university students with a number of internship opportunities. The annual three-week Summer Internship Programme for students from Dalian Maritime University (DMU) and Shenzhen University (SZU), now in its eighth year, was held at YICT from 21 July to 8 August 2014.

The 24 participants were given the chance to solve real problems through “live” case studies. They were placed in the Operation Services and Development Department and three other departments, where they gained first-hand experience of terminal operations and life in a large corporation. On 4 August, the students participated in an in-depth discussion with Mr Patrick Lam, Managing Director of YICT, during which he shared his experience of and insights into working in the industry, and offered career advice.

At the end of the programme, the students presented their projects to a panel of judges. The team with the topic “Informationisation of Container Storage Images on Vessels” won first prize with their convincing data analysis and persuasive presentation.
