On 15 April 2017, the world’s largest container vessel in service, MOL Triumph, called at YICT on her maiden voyage. With a capacity of 20,170 TEU, MOL Triumph measures 400 metres long and 58.8 metres wide. It is also the world’s first 20,000 TEU-class container vessel to come on stream.
The vessel is deployed to serve THE Alliance's Asia to Europe trade. THE Alliance, consisting of Yang Ming Marine Transport, Hapag-Lloyd, K Line, MOL and NYK, was established in April 2017.
Operating on THE’s FE2 service, the vessel follows a port rotation of Tianjin – Dalian – Qingdao – Shanghai – Ningbo – Hong Kong – Yantian – Singapore – Tangier– Southampton – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Havre – Tangier – Jebel Ali. During its call at YICT, a total of 3,733 TEU were handled.
