With a long summer vacation stretching before them, children of the staff at Yantian were thrilled with the opportunity to visit their parents’ workplace for a day during the traditional peak season for terminal operations.
On 25 August 2017, 50 children aged between 6 and 9 took part in this annual programme. They had lots of fun at the terminal seeing mega vessels and stacks of containers up close for the first time. At the visitors’ centre, they learnt how Yantian evolved from a waste land into a grand container port. The children were excited to have the chance to operate the crane simulators, and enjoyed meeting and making many new friends.
The young visitors were in awe watching the busy operations of the terminal and took away with them a deeper understanding and appreciation of their parents’ hard work.
