The year of 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. As a participant of the development of Shenzhen, YANTIAN has witnessed Shenzhen’s growth from scratch to the pacesetter of the new era. In tune with the pace of Shenzhen, YANTIAN is committed to the creation of a smart, green and world-class port, and has established itself from a quiet harbor to one of the busiest container terminals in the world.
YANTIAN was established in 1993, and since its inception, the journey of “creating a world-class port” has begun.
Over the past 27 years, YANTIAN has broken the records of the industry one after another. It has evolved from a port with only two berths to a port with 20 deep-water container berths. Its annual throughput has grown from 10,000 TEU to over 10 million TEU, and the then greenfield site has become the preferred port-of-calll for mega vessels. Today, YANTIAN can accomodate five of the world’s largest container vessels, each with carrying capacity of 200,000-ton simultaneously, and it gradually turns this rare occurrence at ports globally into regular daily operations.
We are indebted for our achievements to the era we live in and the people who have consistently supported YANTIAN’s development. Just as Confucius said: “At thirty, I stood firm. At forty, I had no doubts.” In this critical year of the development of of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (the Greater Bay Area) and Shenzhen, the Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, YANTIAN will strive to establish itself as the international shipping hub of the Greater Bay Area, and continue to make contributions to the development of the Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen, the Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.
