Since it resumed full operations, YANTIAN has been able to boost its production while acting on COVID-19 response, and improved operational efficiency and service quality.

Currently, the more and more serious congestions of the major ports overseas have significantly increased the uncertainty of arrival time and worsened the delays of vessels, jeopardized the stability of cargo shipment, and put a strain on the operations of the container yard and berths.

To weather these challenges, YANTIAN has been exploring initiatives to enhance efficiency and capabilities. It has provided customers with various solutions through communication and cooperation with shipping lines to develop new services and the establishment of inland ports. In June and July, YANTIAN welcomed six new services and in August, it received several long-haul extra loaders to provide a highly efficient “golden gateway” for import and export cargo.

Extensive US and Europe Service Network

YANTIAN has over 100 weekly services to destinations worldwide, of which more than 60% are US and Europe services, covering all major ports in the east and west coasts of US, Europe, Canada, and other regions. YANTIAN is also the last port of call for many US and Europe services. As of the end of July, YANTIAN had 109 services, among which US and Europe services accounted for 63, ranking first in South China in terms of density.

Meanwhile, foreign trade enterprises and shipping enterprises jointly provide extra loaders to cushion the adverse impact of the lack of shipping capacities with the continued recovery of the global economy and strong domestic export momentum. The extra loaders deployed by Transfar Shipping Pte. Ltd. of Singapore and Aladin Express DMCC called at YANTIAN on August 6 and 9 respectively, serving as new channels for exporting cargo to the US and Europe.

On August 6, “A FUJI”, an extra loader from Transfar Shipping Pte. Ltd. called at YANTIAN. After being fully loaded at the port, it sailed directly to the west coast of the US and was expected to arrive at Long Beach in 13 days.

On August 9, the extra loader “AS CLARITA” under Aladin Express DMCC departed YANTIAN for Port of Rotterdam, fully loaded.

Premium and Efficient Express Services Facilitate the Export of Cross-border E-commerce Cargo

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, new forms of foreign trade business represented by cross-border e-commerce are on the rise as products made in China continue to sell well overseas. YANTIAN leverages express routes to provide premium and efficient logistics solutions for its customers, and it is usually chosen as the last stop en route to the US and Europe by shipping lines to improve the efficiency of cargo shipment.

“With growing demands overseas, speed is the lifeline of cross-border e-commerce. We choose YANTIAN because of its flexible and resilient express services”, said Wang Yali, Vice President of TOMTOP, a cross-border e-commerce technology company based in Shenzhen.

YANTIAN works closely with shipping lines to roll out express services. Currently, there are 14 express routes to the Americas and Australia. Among these services, it takes only 12 days to Los Angeles and 11 days to Sydney, which can meet the needs of customers for fast shipment.

A Full Range of Logistics Solutions

YANTIAN has been making continuous effort to optimise ways for cargo transport to provide customers with a full range of logistics solutions, including inland ports, intermodal service and barge service.

At the end of July, Pinghu South Depot was established as the sixth inland port of YANTIAN. After clearance procedures being completed at Pinghu, the export containers can then be shipped via the Pingyan Railway to YANTIAN for loading onto long-haul vessels, which opens up the “last mile” for cargo export.

Meanwhile, YANTIAN capitalises on port alliance and barge network to extend the port functions to the cargo catchment area, which streamlines clearance procedures and saves logistic cost for customers. It also helps reduce the proportion of land transportation in cargo shipment to achieve lighter carbon footprint.

Multiple Measures to Facilitate Cross-border Trade and Optimise Business Environment

A favorable clearance environment provides a boon for import and export. To ensure smooth clearance at the port, YANTIAN actively cooperates with the Customs and other related departments to optimise business environment by reducing clearance time and simplifying the clearance procedures. With the support and guidance of government departments concerned, multiple measures are formulated to provide fast lane for import and export and facilitate cross-border trade.

·The number of regulatory documents requested for import and export has been reduced from 86 to 41. Now 16 kinds of certificates of origin for export can be handled online.
·Cargo owners can choose “advance declaration”, “two-step declaration”, “collective declaration” or other ways for clearance declaration.
·The time for clearance is reduced by more than 50% for fresh food, emergency materials and other cargo that need speedy clearance. Customers can choose “shipside pickup” and “shipside loading”.
