In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, people of YANTIAN united as one and overcame various difficulties to ensure the stability and smooth operations of the industry chain, supply chain, and the express feeder service for supplies to Hong Kong. Recently, YANTIAN welcomed Evergreen's first Southeast Asia service "CPH" calling at Yantian Port, and the inaugural call of the world's largest container vessel--the 24,000-TEU “Ever Arm” serving Evergreen's Europe route.
A New Trade Gateway for RCEP Region
On March 23, YANTIAN received “UNI ASSENT” on "CPH" service, marking the inaugural call of Evergreen's first Southeast Asia service at Yantian Port. The weekly service "CPH" follows a port rotation of Hong Kong, Haiphong, Hong Kong, Yantian and Cebu. Being the first direct shipping service from YANTIAN to Port of Cebu in the Philippines, it will facilitate international trade in countries like the Philippines and Vietnam. In the future, YANTIAN will further strengthen cooperation with Evergreen to build more trade gateways for RCEP regions by leveraging its role as a world-class container hub.

On January 1 this year, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) officially came into force, which marked that the world's most populous and diversified free trade area with the greatest development potential was built, representing a milestone in the economic integration in East Asia. YANTIAN has seized the opportunity of RCEP and actively built maritime trade gateways, including developing new routes within the RCEP region, expanding the intermodal service network, establishing port alliances, and developing MCC transshipment and consolidation business to enhance connections between different countries and provide solutions for international logistics within the RCEP region. YANTIAN has welcomed two new routes serving RCEP region this year up till now, and at present has 23 services covering the RCEP region.
The world's Largest Container Vessel "Ever Arm" Made its Inaugural Call to YANTIAN
On March 27, YANTIAN welcomed the inaugural call of “Ever Arm” on its maiden voyage, one of the 10 new 24,000-TEU class ultra-large container vessels built by Evergreen. It is currently the world's largest container vessel, which is 400 meters long and 62 meters wide, with a deck area the size of nearly four soccer fields, and is 63 meters longer than the world's largest aircraft carrier in service. Containers loaded onto the vessel can be connected from Shenzhen all the way to Guangzhou. “Ever Arm” is deployed on Evergreen's European route, and YANTIAN is its only port of call in South China. After leaving Yantian Port, the vessel will sail directly to Europe.
On March 27, YANTIAN welcomed the 24,000-TEU “Ever Arm” on its maiden voyage.
In August last year, the sister vessel of “Ever Arm”, the 24,000-TEU class vessel “Ever Ace”, made its inaugural called at YANTIAN, which was the largest container vessel called at Yantian Port at that time. It was loaded with 21,718 TEU after handling operation was completed at YANTIAN, setting a new world record. At present, all of the five members under the 24,000-TEU class vessel fleet in service have called at Yantian Port.

As a preferred port-of-call for mega-vessels, YANTIAN has channels nearly 18 meters deep and 475 meters wide, capable of serving 200,000-ton mega-vessels 24/7. Leveraging its natural deep-water berths, advanced terminal facilities and unparalleled mega-vessel handling capabilities, YANTIAN becomes the terminal-of-choice for mega-vessels from across the world. By the end of February, YANTIAN is able to provide 107 services, including 61 to Europe and the United States, and has served more than 602 mega-vessels with carrying capacity of over 18,000 TEU each from January 2021 to March 23, 2022.
