While optimising trunk route services, YANTIAN is also vigorously developing intermodal transport services with Yantian Port as the hub.

In November, the volume generated by feeder service was 89,000 TEU, the highest ever for November, and the total feeder throughput from January to November exceeded last year's total. Our intermodal services also kept growing, with the total throughput completed as of December 8 exceeding last year's total.

Improving Feeder Network with YANTIAN - Zhongshan Port Alliance

Under the strong support from organizations including Dapeng Customs, Zhongshan Customs, Zhongshan Bureau of Commerce, and Sinotrans, YANTIAN worked closely with Zhongshan Sinotrans Terminal to successfully complete the test of container transportation for YANTIAN-Zhongshan Port  Alliance. This means that importers and exporters in Zhongshan and the surrounding areas can henceforth enjoy one-stop cargo declaration, inspection, and release services at Zhongshan Port, transport their cargoes to Yantian Port via feeders for shipment to destinations worldwide with mega-vessels, greatly saving clearance time and logistics costs.

This year, YANTIAN has been working closely with ports and terminals in the Greater Bay Area and launched YANTIAN-Dongguan and YANTIAN-Zhongshan port alliances. Just at the end of last month, we opened the feeder service from Shenwan Port of Zhongshan and Gaolan Port of Zhuhai to YANTIAN. At present, our feeder services have covered most of the inland river terminals in the Greater Bay Area and 14 ports including Shantou and Qinzhou.

In addition, YANTIAN is the first port in Shenzhen to launch the express feeder service to Hong Kong, offering an express logistics channel for between the two cities. With HARVEST Shipping joining the express feeder service at the end of last month, we now have 9 feeder companies serving to create a stable, reliable, and efficient maritime "express line". On Land
Expanding intermodal service network to attract more cargoes from the vast hinterland

In 2022, we further expanded the intermodal service to the hinterland by building new inland ports and adding trains in service, yielding stable business growth.

From January to November, the total intermodal throughput increased by 7% year-on-year, and the total throughput completed to date exceeded last year's total. We launched the Minhang (Shanghai)-Changping-YANTIAN, Wuhan-Yueyang-YANTIAN intermodal services to develop the Central China market. From January to November, exports from Central China increased by 20% year-on-year.

This year, after the establishment of inland ports in Longchuan, Yueyang, Jiangmen, and Nanchang, as well as 6 new intermodal services in Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Hunan, we now have 10 inland ports, a three-fold increase year-on-year, and 27 intermodal services.

We have established 6 inland points (5 in Guangzhou, Foshan and Dongguan and 1 in Hunan), initiated yard capacity optimisation programs, and leveraged more storage areas to extend port functions and services.

In the future, YANTIAN will continue to work together with all parties involved to improve the layout of inland ports and port alliances, and promote the quality development of multimodal service network. It is committed to creating a more dynamic and competitive port ecosystem, making more contributions to the achievement of the country’s peak carbon emission and carbon neutrality targets, and ensuring the smooth operations of the supply chain and the industry chain.
