On April 20, the promotion event of the YANTIAN-Gaolan Port Alliance was held in Zhuhai. This is the fourth port alliance established by YANTIAN in the Greater Bay Area, following Huizhou, Dongguan, and Zhongshan.

During the event, Chen Xinong, Commercial Manager of Gaolan Port and Crystal Pang, Senior Manager of Commercial Department of YANTIAN introduced the port alliance. This promotion event also included a Q&A session, during which the port alliance service team answered questions from the audience.

Interconnection of two ports

Zhuhai, a multi-modal transportation hub in the Pearl River Delta region

Zhuhai is an important city on the west coast of the Pearl River Delta and is a major export base for Guangdong Province's household appliances and biomedical industries. Relying on the convenient transportation offered by the Guangdong West Coastal Expressway, Gaolan Port Expressway, and Guangzhou–Zhuhai Railway, Gaolan Port has developed a 2-hour economic circle and is the main import and export port in the Xi River Basin.

Building an industrial cluster 

Under the port alliance clearance model, factories and enterprises in Zhuhai and its surrounding areas deliver their cargo to Gaolan Port, where they can be cleared just like at Yantian Port. The whole process only requires one declaration, one inspection, and one release, and transportation services are available for 24 hours. This model opens up a new channel for international trade cargo to reach the rest of the world through YANTIAN quickly.

The port alliance realises the mutual recognition and support of resources between the two major ports, effectively improving the clearance efficiency, saving logistics costs, easing the pressure of land transportation and reducing pollution, and facilitating the cross-border trade.

Outstanding advantages

YANTIAN-Gaolan Port Alliance is the fourth port alliance opened by YANTIAN after Huizhou, Dongguan, and Zhongshan. Cargo from Zhuhai can be directly shipped to the rest of the world through over 100 weekly services calling at YANTIAN. As the world's largest port run by a single terminal operator, it serves one-third of the import and export container traffic of Guangdong province and one-fourth of the container volume generated by the trade between China and United States.

YANTIAN has the unique 18-metre-deep and 475-metre-wide natural navigation channel in the Greater Bay Area that can allow 7/24 passage of 200,000-ton vessels in both directions. In addition, being the last port of call for mega-vessels in China, it greatly saves time and costs for customers. 

Keeping moving on

YANTIAN has been committed to the water transportation development as a green transportation method, and our feeder services now cover most of the river ports in the Greater Bay Area and 14 ports such as Shantou and Qinzhou. In the future, guided by national development strategies and plans, we will continue to build more port alliances in the Greater Bay Area, drive interconnection between the seaport and river ports, thus contributing to the establishment of a world-class port cluster and the high-quality development of the export-oriented economy in the Greater Bay Area.
