01 Raise safety awareness

Awareness determines behaviour. By raising safety awareness, we can change the passive "after-the-fact" follow-up to "before-the-fact" intervention to create an environment in which everyone cares about safety and pays attention to prevention. 

YNTIAN holds various activities every year, including safety month, specific activities for traffic, cranes, typhoon prevention, fire prevention, to raise employees' safety awareness. In June this year, we organised online and offline activities such as "Everyone Learns Safety", "VR-based Safety Training", "Emergency Drill Competition", and "Know Risk, Understand Control" participated by nearly 8,000 staff of YANTIAN and our contractors to improve employees' emergency response and safe production capabilities.

The "VR-based Safety Training" activity concretised and visualised common hazards, dangerous behaviours, and accidents at the workplace, allowing employees to experience these hazards in an immersive manner. This activity attracted over 3,000 employees to participate. The most popular items include simulated fire-fighting, first aid, and VR walking platform.

VR-based Safety Training: simulated fire-fighting

The simulated fire-fighting experience system has 28 scenarios such as factories, offices, conference rooms, construction sites and so on. Participants can learn how to recognise the type of fire, select the correct fire extinguisher, and use it correctly.

VR-based Safety Training: first aid

Participants can learn first aid knowledge and skills, such as CPR, to save lives in an emergency.

VR-based Safety Training: VR walking platform

Participants can use the interactive VR handle to experience fall from height, helmet smash, safety belt, fall from the crane, fire escape, electrocution, traffic accidents, lifting injuries, and other dangers resulting from unsafe operations, so as to raise safety awareness and reduce the probability of safety accidents.

02 Regulate workplace safety practice 

Safety education and training is the basis for improving the safe production capabilities of all employees. YANTIAN has always been emphasising safety education and holds safety training sessions, including webinars, classroom training, and practical training, to allow employees to know about common safety knowledge and potential risks of their positions, thus enhancing their safety awareness, urging them to comply with laws, regulations and rules.

03 Build a safe working environment

Upholding the "life first" principle, YANTIAN constantly explores and innovates management measures to reach accident-free operation and build YANTIAN into a modern port company with advanced safety management and safety culture. We have established a safety inspection and potential danger investigation and management system covering all employees and processes, which runs 24/7 to realise real-time safety control.

04 Promote safety management

Without strict safety management, it is impossible to effectively implement all safety rules and regulations, and it may even add potential safety risks. In the first and second quarters, the Office of Safety Committee of YANTIAN completed the first round of inspections of frontline managers/supervisors' due diligence in terms of safety. Huang Zhixiang, Head of Safety & Security, convened meetings to guide employees to strengthen the weak links and improve the level of safety management.

Safe production is related to people's well-being and the overall landscape of economic and social development. YANTIAN will continue to require all staff to strictly adhere to safety development and life first principles, unswervingly ensure safe operation and safety responsibility fulfillment to make every effort to assure the smooth and stable operations of supply chain and industry chain in the Greater Bay Area, support Shenzhen to be a logistics centre with global influence.
