On August 28, more than 700 containers loaded with approximately 2,000 new energy vehicles made in China were loaded onto the OOCL Felixstowe, which made its maiden call to YANTIAN, and then shipped to the Port of Rotterdam. This set a new record for the highest one-time export of the brand's new energy vehicles under the whole vehicle loading solution from Yantian Port.

OOCL Felixstowe is one of the largest environmentally-friendly container vessels in the world, with a carrying capacity of 24,188 TEU. YANTIAN deployed six 52-metre quay cranes, the highest in South China, according to the vessel's loading capacity in advance for efficient service. This is the maiden voyage of OOCL Felixstowe, which is deployed to the Asia-Europe service. Of the 6 ports in China it calls at, YANTIAN handled the most exported laden containers, accounting for more than 30% of the total.

Since this year, China's international trade export represented by new energy vehicles has grown exponentially. With increasing overseas orders for new energy vehicles, the original ro-ro model cannot meet the export demand anymore. How to solve the capacity constraints, technology issues for vehicle shipment with containers, and safety issues for lithium battery sea transportation are the three major challenges facing the industry. In order to help domestic new energy vehicles go global smoothly, as early as September 30 last year, we worked with Shenzhen Customs, Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration, and other related departments to customise the whole vehicle loading model for new energy vehicle exporters to secure their international sales.

In a previous interview, Deng Xiaoyan, Deputy Chief of the Comprehensive Service Section of Dapeng Customs, said:

"Yantian Port's 'one container for three vehicles' solution significantly reduces the transportation costs, while shortening the waiting time of each container by two to three days."

YANTIAN drafted and formulated the industry standards for new energy vehicle transportation with containers, which passed relevant certifications of China Classification Society. YANTIAN now has complete functions from inspection, loading, to transportation, helping new energy vehicles and other electrically charged products to be exported smoothly. In order to solve the concerns of automobile enterprises about the rising cost of the whole chain caused by distance, we designed an integrated whole-chain service product to significantly save costs. In response to the upcoming peak shipping season, we have launched a "land + rail" service model under which we cooperate with professional logistics, transportation, and shipping companies to offer one-stop logistics services covering factories to major overseas ports for vehicle customers, forming an automobile export service chain of "port + logistics + trade".

Data from Shenzhen Customs shows that in the first half of this year, the export of electric passenger vehicles amounted to CNY8.07 billion, an increase of 943.2% year-on-year. YANTIAN is located in the core of the Greater Bay Area, and is the main port of inbound and outbound cargo in the Pearl River Delta. In the future, we will continue to provide fast, efficient, and secure services to facilitate the stability of the international supply chain, enhance the capacity of vehicle exports, and fully support Shenzhen to build "a new world-class automobile city" for the smooth development of China's new energy industry on the international stage.
