The 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) from November 5 to 10, 2023.

Adhering to the concepts of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, YANTIAN, as a member of Hutchison Ports, has never been absent from the expo over the past 6 years, working hand in hand with all parties involved to create a bright future for greater opening-up and prosperity.

Services connecting destinations worldwide
YANTIAN serves over 1/3 of the import and export container traffic of Guangdong province and 1/4 of that generated by the Sino-US trade. Currently, we have worked with our shipping line partners to provide approximately 100 shipping services, offering extensive, fast, and premium services as well as  eco-friendly multimodal logistics solutions for our customers, strongly supporting the international trade development of China.

Important gateway for imports in South China
There are tens of thousands of containers loaded with imported goods being distributed to the Chinese market through Yantian Port every month and YANTIAN attracts more and more importers by virtue of our superior service network, premium services, and efficient clearance procedures. At present, the main types of imports via YANTIAN are timber, frozen meat, fruits, paper products, chemicals, plastics and dairy products, food products, alcoholic beverages and so on, with cargoes from North America, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, etc. Among them, timber imported through YANTIAN tops terminals in South China, making us the preferred port for timber import from America, Europe and Australia. Over the past decade, the overall trend of imports in YANTIAN has been on the rise, with the total import throughput almost doubling.

Preferred port for cold chain imports in South China
Over the years, YANTIAN has been committed to developing the import and export cold chain service, and has become the hub port for refrigerated cargo imports from countries and regions such as Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. We are the preferred port for cold chain imports in South China, the largest port for imported frozen meat in South China, accounting for over 95% of all frozen meat imports in Shenzhen. We also strike gold in fruit and vegetable imports and saw a 600% increase in 2022. 

Strong Customs support with diversified services
YANTIAN has been actively linking up with the Customs to ensure the smooth flow of cold chain imports. We have set up a dedicated work team for import service to optimise the operation process according to customers' needs, improving the terminal operation efficiency and the clearance efficiency. Yantian District had issued the "Supportive Measures on Accelerating the Promotion for the High-quality Development of Cold Chain Industry in Yantian District" in May this year and the corresponding "Declaration Guidelines" in November, which strongly support YANTIAN to build an imported cold chain trade and distribution centre.

Through the "Smooth Port Service Initiative" jointly held by YANTIAN and Dapeng Customs, one-stop customs clearance is realised for time-critical cargoes such as fresh fruits, plant seeds, and dangerous goods. To the fastest extent possible, inspection, sampling, and container pick-up operations can be completed on the same day once cargoes are unloaded.

YANTIAN is now equipped with 4,487 reefer plugs in the container yard dedicated for cold chain products, and there are 2 temperature-controlled inspection facilities and 1 Customs-designated supervisory site to ensure fast inspection and release for reefer cargoes. There are 6 off-dock reefer warehouses with a total capacity of about 200,000 tons to provide one-stop and end-to-end fresh and frozen food services to the Greater Bay Area and even the whole country.

As the world's first import-themed expo of national level, the CIIE allows all countries to share the opportunities of China's large market and provides people with rich offerings to enjoy a better life.
