The Engineering Department steadfastly upholds the belief that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. It has meticulously implemented a sustainable development strategy, established an ecological civilisation system, and created a picturesque green port, significantly enhancing resource efficiency. The department’s initiatives in pollution reduction and carbon mitigation have propelled YANTIAN to become the only terminal worldwide to win the AFLAS "Best Green Container Terminal" award for four times, underscoring its commitment to a sustainable and eco-friendly port.

In the recently concluded "520 Social Responsibility Day - Climate Change Topics" case selection, YANTIAN was recognised as an "Outstanding Case for Climate Change Action."

In 2023, YANTIAN reduced total carbon emissions by nearly 20,000 tons compared to 2022, equivalent to planting approximately 1.09 million trees. Over the past decade (2014-2023), YANTIAN has achieved a 33% reduction in carbon emissions per container.

The Engineering Department has introduced multiple intelligent equipment and facilities, including the remote oil level intelligent monitoring system for RTGCs, as well as the video surveillance system and smart cargo handling system for quay cranes. These initiatives not only offer technical support to optimise existing equipment and facilities, thereby enhancing production efficiency, but also invigorate the company's pursuit of building a green and smart port and achieving sustained development.
